At MevaSearch, we are building a search engine based on complete transparency. We believe that as our customers (rather than an advertising product), you have the right to know every aspect of how our infrastructure operates — including the challenges we face.

Today, June 16, 2026, at 08:00 AM Central European Time, our monitoring systems detected a deliberate, large-scale attempt to overload our infrastructure with artificial network traffic (a DoS/DDoS attack). The attack continued until 09:38 AM, when the situation was fully and permanently resolved.

How Did Our Systems Respond?

We are proud to emphasize that the MevaSearch architecture functioned exactly as intended. The attack did not cause an outage or a complete disruption of the search engine. The abnormal traffic pattern immediately triggered alerts within our automated defense systems, allowing for a rapid manual and automated response from our technical team.

Your Data Remained 100% Secure

DoS/DDoS attacks are designed solely to disrupt access to services by generating artificial traffic. These were not hacking attempts aimed at stealing information. Our database infrastructure, subscription profiles, search queries, and login credentials were never at risk and were not accessed, modified, or compromised in any way.

Security Improvements and Enhanced Filtering

We learn from every incident. To further protect the platform against similar events in the future, we immediately implemented several improvements:

- Strengthened security filters at the network layer.
- Introduced optimizations to the authentication and login process by implementing an intelligent, privacy-focused request limit per user session.

This change effectively prevents automated bots from overloading the login infrastructure again while remaining completely invisible to legitimate users and having no impact on the everyday search experience.
